Troops Into Transportation has taken action on living with the threat of COVID19. As an essential business, we are staying true to our mission of helping our students complete their training and testing so they may begin their professional driving careers.
The CDL Schools & Troops Into Transportation have taken extreme measures to keep our students and staff safe as we continue to operate. In addition to social distancing, we have shifted to using technology and other techniques to deliver our curriculum and testing services.
Our partner trucking companies are still hiring drivers. In fact, the need for new drivers is increasing as the pipeline is beginning to narrow. Many of the states that we operate in, 7 total, are still continuing essential motor vehicle transactions which include the CDL Learner’s Permit (CLP) and CDL Skills testing (road test). However, not all states have taken this stance on defining what is essential and some, including New York, have stopped CDL transactions altogether. This will make a dramatic effect in another 30-60 days where potentially tens of thousands of likely new graduates will not be put into these driving jobs.
Here at The CDL Schools, we believe that we can adapt and overcome the situations we are now facing in the wake of COVID19. We are offering online industry briefings to those who want to be part of the industry – all in-person meetings can now be conducted over the phone. We are offering tele-delivery classroom training to avoid gatherings in large groups. Training is conducted with distancing but allowing our instructional staff to communicate and conduct on-road lessons – we have minimized our training ratios so that many lessons are done in small groups or private lessons.
